Cali
My name is Cali. I am a Calico cat that started my life in Hines Drive. I came into this world on November 1, 2010. A young stranger picked me up and took me home. My new owner was a young girl and was not allowed to bring me into her house, so I slept in her car for a few days. Then she took me to a cat adoption agency for safekeeping. I was there for a while and then moved to Pet Smart to see if someone would adopt me. I figured that was not a problem, as cute as I am. My new mom on a Friday saw a posting of me on the internet, and they came to check me out the following Saturday. Well, that Saturday, my new parents looked at me and fell in love at first sight. I knew that might happen, and they adopted me. I arrived at my current residence on February 12th, 2011. I've been around for quite some time, as I am now 13.
I am a diabetic cat. Yes, diabetic, and I didn't know that was possible. When my Vet told my Daddy, he asked about oral medication. It just so happens none exists, so I get an insulin shot twice daily. Not bad, and that helped me out. Before the diagnostics, I started dropping weight, got down to 5 lbs 4 oz, and went to an animal hospital. I was first prescribed pet insulin, which did not improve my weight loss. I was in the hospital just before Christmas 2021, getting treatments. Vets at the hospital determined that animal insulin was inadequate, so I was prescribed human insulin, which fixed my weight loss. On Christmas afternoon, the Vets called my parents to come and bring me home. I now weigh 12 lbs.
My New Home
My new parents did not have cat stuff, which I needed at my new home. So they bought all the items necessary to keep me happy and with all those goods they took me home. My parents set up my new litter box in the laundry room and figured this was a good place. I disagreed and hid behind the washing machine. My dad took a long time to convince me to leave my new space. I finally did but I moved to the family room and hid behind the couch. Oh well, that didn't last long, and I finally got used to my new home. I started to feel better with my new parents, and at night I snuck up to their bed while they slept and joined them on the bed. Good times to come.
New Bedroom
My new parents have arranged a beautiful bedroom for me, complete with a comfortable chair and two litter boxes - a thoughtful gesture. Although my parents have set up a security camera to monitor me, I know its presence. Every morning, I enjoy watching the sunrise and beginning my day. Oh, by the way, I also have a bedroom up north.
